Distribution: Throughout the Uk and Europe and is also found in West Asia.

Timber Qualities: The heartwood is very pale pink-brown. This timber is often steamed resulting in the timber turning a more reddish-pinkish tone. The grain is straight with a fine, even texture. Beech offers medium resistance to power tool and hand tools and has a moderate blunting effect on blades. It glues easily, stains well and takes an excellent finish.

Uses: Beech has a wide variety of uses from cabinetmaking and high-class joinery and furniture, through to toys sports gear, tool handles and veneers.
