Zambezi Teak (Baikiaea plurijuga)

Distribution: Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe

Timber Qualities: Has a fine straight slightly interlocking grain. Deep red in color with black flecks, very attractive. It's a hard, heavy yet stable timber. Contains a lot of tannins which may be an irritant and weathers well outside when seasoned.

Uses: Used to be commonly used as railway sleepers and works well for outdoor furniture, table and counter tops and turning.
